Yet another outstanding exhibition opened at the Droichead Arts Centre last Saturday afternoon April1), this time featuring the work of Laytown artist Iollann Ó Murchú.
Iollann is the current holder of Droichead’s First Solo Award for emerging artists and in this his first exhibition, Tarraingíonn Scéal Scéal Eile (One Story Leads to Another), he uses photography to tell stories from Irish mythology and folklore.
The images invite us to us to step into a different world and ask questions not just about mythology and folklore, but also about modern society’s exploitation of natural resources.
The First Solo Award offers support and funding at a key point in the careers of professional visual artists in the North East region who have yet to present a solo show.
The exhibition runs until April 22nd 2023.
