It was a busy weekend of running for Boyne ACs athletes over the last two weekends, with both senior and juvenile members in action.
Jack Garvey ran a super tactical race, to take home the silver medal, in the u16 800m at the recent Athletics Ireland Juvenile B Championships, held in Tullamore.
Jack is continuing to progress with each race, and his hard work and his determination is certainly paying dividends as he took home his first national medal.
A lightning quick pace from the gun, Jack held his nerve and sat comfortably in the top four runners, moving up through the field to take the lead with 400m to go, however, an injection of pace from the second place runner, in the final 100m, saw Jack just surpassed as he ran for the finish line, still finishing in a fast 2.15.18, a mere second behind the winner. A great achievement for this young man, and a great confidence boost as he heads into the cross country season.
A little closer to home the Fingal 10k took place on Sunday last, with over 2,000 participants taking to the roads surrounding Swords village.
Rob Fitzgerald was first to cross the line for Boyne AC as he secured yet another PB time, clocking 42.13 as he crossed the finish line, while clubmate Keith Smyth is continuing to make a great return to competitive action as he crossed the line in 45.45, also setting a new PB.

Mark Dowling, Nicola Veale and Catherine Tiernan at the Termonfeckin Half Marathon.
Keeping it local, Boyne AC were well represented at the Termonfeckin 4 mile and Half Marathon, also on Sunday last.
Young Isabelle Winters displayed her fine talent as she ran 31.50 for the 4 mile distance, finishing 8th female, while clubmate Riley Byrne ran a great race to finish in 43.20. In the half marathon, Mark Dowling ran a steady pace to finish in 1.40.41, with Catherine Tiernan not too far behind in 1.44.14, and Nicky Veale finishing in 1.49.19.
