Young Drogheda Artists Take Part in 72nd Texaco Children’s Art Competition

Young artists from across the country who submitted entries to this year’s Texaco Children’s Art Competition are currently having their artworks assessed as the judging process gets underway.

Among those taking part are students from Drogheda. Pictured during the preliminary adjudication stage is judge Tara Butler-Frey admiring two entries submitted from County Louth, an untitled landscape piece and another titled Cat Mario. Both artworks were created by pupils from St. Ita’s Special School in Drogheda.

The Texaco Children’s Art Competition features six age categories along with a special category reserved for young artists with additional needs.

Winners across all categories are expected to be announced in mid-April.

Now celebrating its 72nd year, the Texaco Children’s Art Competition is the longest-running arts sponsorship in Ireland. First held in 1955, the competition is hosted by Valero Energy (Ireland) Limited, the company that markets fuel in Ireland under the Texaco brand.
