Wowth! Art Competition added to Louth Cruinniú na nÔg line up

Louth County Council has announced details of the ‘WOWTH!’ children’s art competition which they describe as an exciting addition to 2024 Louth Cruinniú na nÓg programme.

The competition is set to ignite creativity and celebrate artistic talent across the county. It will run in collaboration with Louth Library Services, inviting young artists to showcase their skills and imagination.  Embracing creativity and inclusivity, the competition welcomes entries from individuals across three age categories:  Under 7, 8-12, and 13-18.  Under these categories, artists may submit competition entries on any theme they wish.

Additionally, a special themed category, “Louth’s Brilliant Biodiversity,” invites entries from artists of all ages to explore and celebrate the rich diversity of flora and fauna in the region.

An exhibition of selected submissions, including the framed winning entries, is set to launch on Saturday, June 15th (Cruiunniú na nÓg Day) at Dundalk Library. Winners in each age category will be selected and their artworks will be prominently displayed alongside other outstanding entries, with prize winners in each category receiving a delightful hamper filled with artistic and wildlife themed goodies.

Entries must be submitted in paper (2D) format, allowing participants the freedom to experiment with any media of their choice, including mixed media, charcoal, paint, pencil, ink, textiles, crayons, pastels, colouring pencils, collage, and more. All submissions must be accompanied by a fully completed entry form and delivered to any local branch of Louth Library Services by Tuesday, June 4th.

Winners of the special theme category, “Louth’s Brilliant Biodiversity,” may earn the prestigious opportunity to be featured in publications issued by Louth County Council’s Climate Team.
