Workshop in Drogheda to help Clubs access new Sports Funding

A workshop aimed at helping local clubs and organisations apply for new sports funding is set to take place in Drogheda next month.

The Government has introduced the Community Sports Facility Fund, which replaces the previous Sports Capital Programme, and an information session is now being organised locally to support groups through the application process.

Independent councillor Paddy McQuillan has confirmed that, following his request, Sport Uile will host the workshop for clubs, schools, and sporting bodies preparing to apply. The session will be delivered by professional consultants who specialise in funding applications.

Cllr McQuillan said many smaller organisations struggle with the complexity of the application process.

“One of the main obstacles small groups, schools and organisations have in securing funding is the filling out of the application form. The forms themselves can be a minefield and one mistake can cost a club in receiving funding.

“Some clubs even pay individuals to complete the application form for them, and this comes at a cost to the club. This workshop will empower clubs to submit the strongest possible application and greatly increase their opportunities to receive funding.”

He said those attending will gain practical advice from the consultants on how to approach the process.

“I urge all organisations considering applying for this funding to register for this workshop. I would especially like to thank Paddy O’Reilly and all the staff at Sport Uile for organising the workshop.”

The event will take place on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at the Marcy Hotel on West Street in Drogheda from 7pm to 8.30pm, with registration from 6.30pm.

Admission is free, and each club can send up to two representatives.

Please note: Places are limited, and early booking is essential.
