Laytown Races is famous the world over for their annual horse racing on the East Meath beach but locally they are also well known for their support for the local community.
Many organisations in the past have benefited from the generosity of the Race Committee who each year like to give back something to the local community who are somewhat discommoded on race day but offer great support to the event.
This year the Laytown Race Committee chose the Alzheimer’s new Day Care Centre, Tredagh Lodge, which has recently been built after a lengthy fundraising campaign.
This morning the Laytown Races Chairman, Joe Collins, dropped into Tredagh Lodge to present Ann Shortt and Tredagh Lodge with a cheque for €1,000.
“On behalf of my colleagues on the Laytown Races committee, I am delighted to make this donation to Tredagh Lodge Day Care Centre” Mr. Collins, said.
“We are acutely aware of the important services they provide to Drogheda and the wider Louth and Meath area and we hope our small gesture will go some way to support their vital work.”
