Community Historian, Brendan Matthews will present the first of the Summer Evening Historical Walk n Talks across the town of Drogheda on Wednesday evening, May 11.
Titled `From the Railway to South Quay`, the Walk ‘n’ Talk will begin at the Drogheda Train Station Car Park at 7.30pm where Brendan will speak about the importance and significance of the coming of the railway line to Drogheda.
From there the Walk will go down the steps adjacent to the Railway Viaduct to the Marsh Road to the location of a forgotten medieval establishment.
The Walk will then proceed to the area of Ship Street with its colourful history including the construction of St. James Ship Yard here. The next stop will be at the Scotch Hall Lane area where Brendan will bring the evening to a close, elaborating on the rich and storied past of the South Quay.
Note; there is no charge for this event; however donations towards the further Research and presentation of Community History will be gratefully received on the evening.
