Velo Club East Coast to cycle 200k for Autism Support Youth Club

Conor Kelly is a local young man with Autism, for the past 12 years he’s been a member of the Autism Support Louth&Meath Youth Club and he really enjoys taking part in all the club activities, particularly music and drumming.

He especially loves the trips such as a day out in Dublin, a visit to Tayto Park or overnight stays in Carlingford Adventure Centre.

“The youth club kept going, either on Zoom or face to face, all through the past year and a half and it has been an absolute lifeline for Conor” says his father, Joe.

“Conor really values being a member of the youth club and loves seeing his friends every week.”

After such a difficult year Joe and other members of the Velo Club East Coast, which was formed in May 2020 by members of Cilles Gaelic4Dads & Lads, have decided to take on a 200 kilometre charity cycle loop challenge from Drogheda up around Dundalk, over to the lakes and then back to Drogheda via Navan.

Conor, who cycles in to club every week from Bettystown on his electric bike, will be joining the group for the final leg.

The Velo Club East Coast have chosen to fundraise for Autism Support Louth & Meath to help fund their incredible Autism Support Louth/Meath Youth Club.

The Youth Club is based at the Drogheda ABACAS School and caters for kids, teenagers and young adults with autism in Louth and Meath – All funds raised will directly support summer activities for all 86 children and young adults who attend the four youth clubs – different groups dependent on age and support needs.

“You can learn more about them on their Facebook Page. “Joe said. “I hope you can help us by donating whatever you can to help fund the amazing work the Youth Club does.. Simply click this link: https://www.idonate.ie/CillesG4D200kCycleAutismYouthClub

“All donations are processed securely and go directly to Autism Support Louth & Meath. Many Thanks for your support.”
