Two men arrested after drugs worth €2 million seized in Drogheda

An Garda Siochana and Revenue officers scored a major victory in the war on illicit drugs earlier today when, they seized approximately 100kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €2 million in Drogheda.

The seizure, which was part of an intelligence led operation, resulted from a search, under warrant, of a premises in the Drogheda area,  was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Drogheda Divisional Drugs Unit.

Two men, aged 49 and 65, were arrested by An Garda Síochána in connection with this seizure. They are detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996 at Drogheda Garda Station.

Investigations are ongoing.

This operation was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
