There are people out there who know what happened to eight year-old Kyran Durnin, and where his body is, but they are keeping quiet about it. These people need to come forward NOW and help An Garda Siochána put an end to this nightmare.
Right thinking people are shocked to the core that an innocent young child can disappear without trace and that nobody has come forward with the information to locate him.
What started out as a missing persons appeal in August was very quickly upgraded to a murder inquiry and it has been making the headlines ever since.
Despite multiple appeals for information, millions of words written in newspaper reports and a multitude of TV and radio news bulletins, the Garda investigation made little progress until last week when two suspects in the case were arrested and then released after 24 hours of questioning.
The latest of these, Anthony Maguire, took his own life within hours of his release. He left a note but apparently it did not include any information of use to the Garda investigation.
The absence of Maguire form the scenario could however mean that people who have the vital information as to Kyran’s whereabouts but were afraid to come forward and tell Gardaí, will now do so.
It goes beyond human imagination that anyone could keep such a matter secret and it is inconceivable that anyone could live with themselves knowing what they know.
If you have the information the Gardaí need, the sensible course of action is to tell them now. They’re going to find out sooner or later but if you volunteer the information it might stand to you in terms of reduced prison time.
