Temperatures are set to soar for the year-round sea swimmers at Clogherhead beach with the introduction after Christmas of a new ‘Hot Hut’ sauna to warm them up after their daily dip in the briny.
This new addition to the very popular ‘Beach Hut’ cafe will enhance the visitor experience for swimmers and other beach users.
“We opened the Beach Hut in February 2021 and were blown away by the support of locals and the many visitors” said proprietor Neil Kelly.
We were looking for opportunities of improving the visitor experience and believe that this ‘Sauna’ is it.”
Those who book the ‘Hot Hut’ will be able to plunge into the cold sea and warm up again in the sauna before repeating the process and reaping the health benefits that it has to offer.
Clogherhead based Councillor Declan Power said: “I’m delighted to welcome the ‘Hot Hut’ sauna to the beach in Clogherhead and a facility that will improve the health and well-being of so many people.”
“I think this is an excellent addition to the Beach Hut and wish Neil and the team the very best of luck with this innovative project.”
The Hot Hut seats six people, and group bookings will be available inperson at the Beach Hut or online on instagram @thehothut_sauna. The fee is €10 per hour.
“We have had a great response so far, and the feedback has been brilliant” Neil said.
“I believe this will be a great social experience that will be married to the service we provide in the Beach Hut. We hope to have our official open day on New Years Eve,” said Niall Kelly.
