Brian Hegarty of thirtythree-45 and Bigmoon Records want to establish a new independent music scene in Drogheda and to this end they have booked Ireland’s premiere indie-psych rock band Sun Mahshene for a gig in McHugh’s Barrell venue.
They’re hoping that this gig, which takes place on Saturday 12th of August, will be the first of many gigs and collaborations. Special guests on the night will include ‘THEE UFO’, SPIT & The Bedside Community and a Dj set come from Silverback DJS
Sun Mahshene are Ireland’s premiere indie-psych rock band. Weaving together a perfect storm of shoegaze guitars, memorable melodies, and insightful lyrics, this Dublin-based 6-piece are a must-see live.
They deliver incredible live shows, including appearances at Ireland Music Week 2019 and high-profile support slots where they turned heads and gained new fans. With their colourful psychedelic live show, Sun Mahshene will soon be a headline act in their own right.
Releases to date include a self-published EP, followed by three critically acclaimed singles on Reckless Records IE. These singles were playlisted by Spotify, and have received national and international airplay.
2020 saw the release of the “Contradictions & Tales of Fiction” EP, and “The Righteous One”, taken from the upcoming EP “Closing Circles” being released in 2021.
THEE UFO are a Psychedelic Garage, pop band from Dublin. SPIT are a young upcoming local Drogheda noise/avant garde band, and ‘Bedside Community’ are an indie pop band from Monaghan.
Asked about influences, the band says “we’ve grown up listening to all kinds of music, and for us the key thing is the song. If the song isn’t there, the rest doesn’t matter.”
