SOSAD Ireland is a charity that is close to the hearts of Drogheda people and one that many of us have had cause to consult over the years.
It is a non-profit organisation that provides free professional counselling to people who are going through suicidal ideation, bereavement, depression, stress and anxiety or to people who simply need to talk.
Like all such organisations funding is a constant headache but thanks to the generosity of the many people who support them with donations and fundraising activities, SOSAD continues to dispense its vital service.
An unusual and exciting fundraiser is taking place next Friday (March 5) in South Lebanon when members of the 117th IRISHPOLBATT will be taking part in the 4 x 4 x 48 challenge which will see them running 4 miles, every 4 hours, for 48 hours.
IRISHPOLBATT translates into civilian language as the Irish Polish Battalion of UNIFIL which is a multinational peacekeeping force serving in South Lebanon.
The bulk of the proceeds of their fundraiser will go to SOSAD Ireland with 20% of going to Mental Health Ireland and the Irish Cancer Society.
