Santa coming to Drogheda next Friday to switch on the Christmas Lights

The best news we’ve had all year is that Santa Clause has been in touch to say that he is coming to Drogheda this day next week, Friday the 17th of November to switch on the Christmas lights.

This is a very busy time of year for Santa but he told Drogheda Life that he loves coming to Drogheda to meet all the good boys and girls in the town because they always give him such a warm Drogheda welcome.

“Wrap up warm and come in to town for the big Christmas Light Switch on” Santa said. “I’m also looking for three children to help me on the night – see details below.”

“Make sure you are there by six o’clock at the latest because there’s all sorts of fun for all the family with lots of free activities including balloon modelling, carol singing, festive ballet, Greatest Showman roadshow, and some of your favourite cartoon characters mingling with the crowd.

“Event partners, Drogheda Credit Union, invites you all to get into the festive spirit with their Christmas Jumper Competition with prizes for the ‘Most Jolly Jumper’, ‘Festive Family costume’ and spot prizes for most creative and cheery festive wear.

Santa will be bringing lots of festive friends with him and three lucky children will get the chance to help Santa with the most important job of turning on the lights.

To be in with a chance of becoming one of three child to become Santa’s little helpers for the night all you have to do is enter a special Christmas colouring competition.

First you have to download a blank poster from www.lovedrogheda.ie then print it out and colour it in. If you don’t have a printer you can also pick up blank posters from Drogheda Credit Union in Laurence Street or the Drogheda Library on Stockwell Street. Tip: Maybe pick up a couple of sheets in case you make a mistake!

All you have to do then is to hand in your entry (don’t forget to include your name and address, age and a telephone number) either to the library, The Credit Union or to the Love Drogheda Office in Meatmarket Lane before next Wednesday the 15th of November.

Keep your fingers crossed and be as good as you possibly can for your Mammy and Daddy and who knows, you may be one of the three lucky winners (under 6, under 8 and under 12) who will get to help Santa switch on the town’s Christmas lights.

Apart from being really, really good, you don’t need any special qualifications because Santa has his own team of technicians who will look after all the fuses, bulbs, switches and deal with any technical issues that might arise.

The main thing is to enjoy the evening. Happy Colouring!!
