Rotary/Soroptimists Remembrance Tree returns in Christmas week

It’s an integral part of Christmas in Drogheda so it’s good to hear that members of the Drogheda Rotary Club and Drogheda Soroptimists Club will once again be running their popular Remembrance Tree project in the week before Christmas.

The two locations are beside the Christmas Tree on West street and the Laurence Centre. People are being encouraged to write cards to departed loved ones and attach them to ribbons on the tree.

There will also be a GoFundMe page available and a facility to use “Tap and Go” for donations at the respective locations plus on-line.

Drogheda Hospice Homecare, Special Olympics and the Meals on Wheels charities will benefit from this year’s efforts.

Rotary Club President Richard Berney said that he is very grateful to the nearly 100 volunteers who will help at the two locations for the week and to Omega Signs who have donated all the signage.

“Look out for us on West street starting on Saturday 18th December and the following day in the Laurence centre” he said.

Locations and Dates:

West Street (at the steps of St Peter’s): Saturday 18th December to Friday 24th December -10.00am to 6:00pm.

Laurence Shopping Centre: Sunday 19th December to Friday 24th December – 10.00am to 6:00pm.
