Reindeer poo found on O Raghallaighs pitch after Liscorrie Christmas party

Liscorrie Residents held their Christmas party in the O Raghallaighs Sports Hall yesterday evening and it turned out to be one of Santa’s last personal appearances before he had to get back to the North Pole to start his mammoth world-wide delivery.

Well know guests in attendance included the Mayor of Drogheda, Councillor Michelle Hall, Louth TD Peter Fitzpatrick, Councillor Declan Power and local sports personality Ciaran Clarke. But the most important guest on the evening by far was of course Santa who arrived on schedule much to the delight of the girls and boys from the estate.

The children were so excited they didn’t even notice the reindeer grazing on the O Raghallaighs pitch where Santa had parked his sleigh while he distributed his presents.

They all spoke eagerly to Santa in his cosy grotto to confirm the important details in their letters which were sent weeks ago.

Santa of course already had all the information correct for his mammoth delivery job on Christmas Eve and all the children had to promise to behave themselves and get to bed good and early.

There was a disco and sweets galore for all the girls and boys during their wonderful evening.

Sincere thanks are due to An Garda Siochana for their valuable time and to the O Raghallaighs CLG for all their assistance and facilities.

As for the reindeer poo left on the pitch, apparently it’s good for feeding roses so maybe some keen gardener will pick it up and bring it home in a bucket. If not, it will be good for the grass!

Asked for a quote before he flew off, Santa, who prefers to talk to children rather than to nosy reporters, simply said: “Happy Christmas everyone, and don’t forget children- off to bed early! ho, ho, ho!” And then he was gone.

Some passengers travelling home from Dublin on the train at roughly the same time reported seeing a sleigh and several reindeer flying high above the Boyne viaduct heading north.

Neither the Garda Press office nor Irish Rail could confirm these reports however and nothing unusual showed up on the flight control radar at Dublin Airport. That’s Santa for you, how does he do it?

Happy Christmas everyone, young and not so young.
