Public Consultation on Draft County Louth Noise Action Plan

ENVIRONMENTAL NOISE REGULATIONS, 2018 (S.I. No. 549/2018, as amended)

NOTICE OF PUBLIC CONSULTATION ON DRAFT COUNTY LOUTH NOISE ACTION PLAN 2024-2028

Submissions are invited from the public on the draft County Louth Noise Action Plan 2024-2028, prepared under S.I. No. 549 of 2018 (as amended), to address environmental noise in County Louth prepared by Louth County Council.   

This is a four-year strategic plan with the main purpose to inform and consult the public about the health effects of noise exposure from major roads (as defined in the above regulations) and the measures that may be considered to address this issue in County Louth. The plan excludes noise from domestic activities, noise created by neighbours, noise at workplaces or noise inside a means of transport or due to military activities in military areas. 

The public consultation phase will be open from 9 a.m. Monday 27th May 2024 with the draft Noise Action plan, Draft Appropriate Assessment (AA) Screening and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Screening reports and associated Screening Determinations available for inspection online at www.louthcoco.ie and at the following locations. 

  • The Offices of Louth County Council, County Hall, Millennium Centre, St. Alphonsus Road, Dundalk, Co. Louth A91 KFW6 Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) between the hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm 
  • The Offices of Louth County Council, Dundalk Town Hall, Crowe Street, Dundalk, Co. Louth A91 W2OC Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) between the hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm 
  • The Offices of Louth County Council, Drogheda Civic Offices, Fair Street, Drogheda, Co. Louth A92 P440 Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) between the hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm 
  • The Offices of Louth County Council, Mid Louth Civic Offices, Fair Green, Ardee, Co. Louth A92 RYT2 Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) between the hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • At the following Council Libraries during normal opening hours, during the consultation period: Ardee Library, Carlingford Library, Dundalk Library, Dunleer Library, Drogheda Library

The closing date for submissions or observations on the draft plan and associated SEA and AA Screening documents is 5 p.m. Monday 22nd July 2024. 

Please note LATE submissions or observations will not be considered.
