“Let’s act now rather than react later”
Independent Drogheda Rural Councillor Declan Power is encouraging the public to engage in the Clogherhead Town Centre First Plan Consultation.
Louth County Council is extending a warm invitation to the public for a drop-in consultation event on Wednesday, May 8th, to share their perspectives on enhancing Clogherhead as a vibrant and appealing destination for living, working, shopping, and leisure.
Residents are encouraged to visit the community center in Clogherhead between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM to engage with urban design consultants Building Design Partnership Ltd (BDP), who have been appointed by Louth County Council to develop a comprehensive plan for the village center.
Having secured funding to develop a town centre plan under the Government’s Town Centre First Policy, Clogherhead is poised to revitalise its village centre, combat vacancy, and preserve its unique character. The plan, a collaborative effort, aims to attract investment and guide the village’s progressive and sustainable evolution.
Louth County Council seeks community input on various issues, including retail, public services, recreational spaces, heritage, and transportation. The aim is to ensure that local knowledge and ideas are reflected in the plan’s objectives and interventions.
As part of the consultation process, an online survey will be available from May 8th to May 22nd, accessible via the Louth County Council online consultation portal at https://consult.louthcoco.ie/.
Independent Councillor Declan Power, representing Drogheda Rural and a resident of Clogherhead, embraces the forthcoming consultation process, highlighting its potential to bring about positive change.
“This presents a unique opportunity for all stakeholders invested in Clogherhead’s future” he said. “The collective engagement of residents, workers, and visitors will shape the village’s future.
“I advocate for both bold visions and practical actions, as each contribution, regardless of scale, can foster positive change within the community. It’s important that we seize this moment and actively participate.
“I’m encouraging everyone to the community hall in Clogherhead on May 8th between 4pm and 8pm to engage directly with Louth County Council planners and consultants, or contribute through the online survey on www.consult.louthcoco.ie.
“The potential for Clogherhead based on the Town Centre First Plan is remarkable. Let’s act now rather than react later, and build a vibrant, sustainable, and thriving community.”
