As soon as Taoiseach Micheál Martin announced the easing of covid-19 restrictions, the Drogheda LGBTQI Support Group began making plans for Drogheda pride 2022.
“We are planning a parade on Saturday 6th of August through the town of Drogheda” chief organiser Peter Nugent told Drogheda Life.
“With covid 19 restrictions now lifted we can look forward to a jam-packed weekend of culture around LGBTQ in our community” he said.
Plans are at an early stage but you can expect educational workshops on such topics as mental health and transgender awareness.
Party central for the weekend of entertainment will be Mc Hugh’s Venue with the Friday and Saturday nights being hosted by Phil T Gorgeous (pictured below) who will be introducing music by the likes of the Sparkle Band and Kelly Mc Ardle
There’ll also be a selection of Drag Queens strutting their stuff followed by Family Fun day on the Sunday. For more information about Drogheda LGBTQI Pride you can follow them on Facebook and Instagram.

Meanwhile, to raise some funds for the Pride 2022 and to celebrate Saint Valentine’s the Drogheda LGBTQI group is running an 80’s night on Saturday 12th of February, also in McHughs.
So, get your dancing shoes on, DJ Paddy Moisen will be in charge of the decks till late and there’ll be plenty of prizes to be won in the raffle in aid of Drogheda Pride 2022.
