Peter Nugent and Drogheda Pride nominated for national awards

He’s been a champion of the Drogheda gay community for many years and now the hardworking volunteer Manager of Drogheda and Meath LGBTQI Support Group, Peter James Nugent, has been nominated for the LGBTQI Person of the Year award at the national GALAS Awards.

Also, the Drogheda Pride, which Peter played a big part in organising, has been nominated for the LGBTQ Event of the Year award.

Organised by GCN and the National LGBT Federation (NXF), the GALAS are Ireland’s only LGBTQ+ awards programme and have been running since 2009 – with a pause of two years due to the COVID pandemic.

The awards were established to acknowledge and honour the outstanding contribution that individuals, companies and organisations make to support the LGBTQ+ community in Ireland.

Since 2009 the GALAS have recognised the efforts and achievements of over 180 individuals, companies and organisations for their outstanding work and contribution to furthering the cause of equality and inclusion in Ireland

With the ceremony taking place on October 7 in the Round Room in the Mansion House in Dublin.

Nominations close tomorrow, Friday 28th of July, so now is the time for you to nominate who you think should be honoured for their work and contribution to Ireland’s LGBTQ+ community at  https://www.galas.ie/
