Drogheda’s famous Kidkast Theatre School are used to taking giant leaps but at the moment it’s a case of baby steps as they strive to get back up and running after 19 months of closure.
Kidkast has been training students to vocational level in Old Abbey Lane since opening their studios in 2006. They achieved Vocational status in 2016 and each year students go on to a career in performing or teaching in the performing arts, studying here in Ireland, but also in England, Scotland and Spain.
This year saw a record number entering colleges with five students achieving their first-choice places in Performing Arts colleges.
Local students Oisín Dunne, Tori Dillon, Alex Bell, Sadhbh O’Keefe and Emma Halpin have all continued their education in Musical Theatre and Dance in third level colleges in Dublin and Cork.
All five are past students of Kidkast Theatre School in Drogheda and have all grown up at Old Abbey Dance studios and have chosen to take the professional route in their chosen genres.
Oisín Dunne is currently studying Dance at Inchicore College, Tori Dillon in the College of Dance, Alex Bell and Emma Halpin are in Phoenix Performing Arts College and Sadhbh O’Keefe is studying Musical Theatre at MTU, Cork.

Tracey Martin of Kidkast is very proud of the achievements of all their students over the years and whatever career route they choose, the skills, poise, confidence, teamwork learned through performing arts training will stand to them. It is always a proud moment when students take their training to the next level.
This love of theatre and dance is nurtured at Kidkast, which is home from home for many of our students. “We aim to provide a positive environment where young people can flourish both professionally and personally” said Tracey.
