Independent election candidate Peter James Nugent says that one of his main concerns is creating a better voice for people with disabilities in our community.

COST OF LIVING WITH A DISABILITY
Introduce a cost of disability payment that is appropriate to a person’s disability, regardless of social welfare or employment status.
PERSONAL ASSISTANT SERVICES
Invest in disability services by resolving pay parity issues so that personal assistants are paid the same as HSE workers.
COMMUNITY CENTRE
Appropriate multi-annual funding to sustain day services and to plan for expanding need in the future.
TRANSPORT
Ensuring that people with disabilities can access public transport and safely access the infrastructure surrounding public transport. 
Publish and adequately resource the review of transport grants and entitlements for people with disabilities.  
HOUSING
Amend Part M (Section 3, Access and Use) of the Building Regulations 2010 to ensure future housing built for independent living.
