The North-East Regional Enterprise Plan to 2024, which is seen as a key milestone in the promotion of collaboration among regional stakeholders in the North-East, has been approved by the steering committee.
The Plan sees the coming together of enterprise development agencies, Local Enterprise Offices, and the private sector to work together on initiatives that will both support enterprise across the region and promote the North-East as a region to live, work and invest in. The Plan focuses on five key areas:
- Development of a strong and coherent messaging proposition for the North-East region highlighting its unique attributes for investment and quality of life.
- Supporting digital transition for enterprise.
- Strengthening the regional SME ecosystem through collaboration, capability, and capacity building.
- Supporting enterprise to mainstream climate action and transition to low carbon into their business planning and delivery.
- Leveraging the full extent of existing and emerging growth sectors in the North-East.
Now that the Plan has been approved work has commenced on the establishment of working groups to focus on implementing the various actions included. Membership of these groups will be drawn from both the private and public sector.
The new Regional Enterprise Plan to 2024 will be formally launched in November by Minister Damien English, TD, Minister of State for Business, Employment and Retail.
