Michael Reade wins award for reports on child sexual abuse and challenges facing refugees

LMFM journalist Michael Reade has been awarded the CVSN “Recognition of Excellence Award – 2024 for Services to Broadcast journalism” by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Daithi DeRoiste at a reception, held in his honour in Dublin’s Mansion House.

CVSN - Csa (child sexual abuse) Victim and Survivor Network are a national and international network of people who have experienced child sexual abuse. Their work involves raising awareness of the enduring nature of child sexual abuse.

The award and accompanying presentation cited Michael Reade’s exemplary and courageous services to human rights broadcast journalism in the area of child sexual abuse and also his work supporting and raising awareness of the challenges facing refugees in Ireland today.

“As First Citizen of Dublin I’m very proud to be honouring the broadcast work of Michael Reade in the Mansion House. Listening to victims and survivors of child sexual abuse attending today recount how Michael’s work has lifted them has been a privilege” said The Lord Mayor of Dublin Daithi DeRoiste

The Irish Secretary of the National Union of Journalists, Seamus Dooley said: “Thank you CVSN for facilitating important recognition of Michael Reade and the power of ethical journalism.”

Co-Founder of CVSN, Kenneth Grace said: “On behalf of CVSN a big thank you to Michael Reade for most importantly listening to us, and when you heard what we had to say, for giving us a voice.”
