As Irish businesses face growing pressures to comply with the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and other stringent ESG regulations, M1 Drogheda Chamber Skillnet is stepping in to bridge the knowledge gap with the launch of a new, three day, locally based cutting-edge workshop, “ESG Readiness Programme 2024.”
With CSRD now in force, Irish companies are required to report on their sustainability impacts and how these affect their performance, development, and position. This complex regulatory landscape is further complicated by additional directives such as the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, all of which demand a robust understanding and proactive approach to compliance.
“Businesses in Ireland, Europe, and globally are facing unprecedented challenges in aligning their operations with new ESG regulations,” said Joe Lynch, Manager, M1 Drogheda Chamber Skillnet. “Our workshops will equip businesses with the critical knowledge and practical tools they need to help meet regulatory requirements and embed sustainability in their strategy.”
The course will cover essential topics including:
- Introduction to Sustainability
- Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive
- Energy Use and Energy Action Planning
- Introduction to Net Zero
- Creating a Sustainability Team
- Waste and the Circular Economy
- Supplier Readiness Programme
- Prioritising Social Impact
- Communicating Sustainability with Impact & Integrity

M1 Drogheda Chamber Skillnet’s initiative comes in response to widespread concern among CEOs & CFOs regarding the challenges of ESG compliance. Recent surveys highlighted that education and training, leadership engagement, and supply chain complexity are among the top challenges businesses face in this area. The course will be delivered by Donal Quinn of ENSO – a Louth-based and B Corp Certified training provider.
“Our aim is to demystify these regulations and provide actionable insights that will help businesses not only comply but thrive in this new era of sustainability reporting,” Donal added.
The course is now open for enrolment and is set to begin in the Seapoint Golf Club on the 5th of September. The workshops are funded by the Government of Ireland the European Union. Businesses are encouraged to register early, as spaces are limited.
