Louth Library Service branches will be closing for the Christmas break on Friday, December 23, but both Drogheda and Ardee libraries will be open for My Open Library users throughout the festive period.
My Open Library (MOL) provides access to our library spaces outside of regular staffed hours. Using your library card, you can enter Ardee and Drogheda Library between 8am and 10pm, 365 days a year – including Christmas Day! During this time, MOL users will have full self-service access to our computers, study spaces, printers and our book collection.
To avail of this service, you must fill in an application form and undergo a short induction on-site with a member of staff. Please note, those aged 16 and 17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the induction.
For more information, visit https://www.louthcoco.ie/en/services/library/my-open-library/ or contact Drogheda Library (041 9876162) or Ardee Library (041 6859023).
You can also make full use of the library service from home over Christmas with a suite of eServices:
- Download e-books and e-audiobooks with Borrowbox
- Pick up a new hobby on Universal Class
- Develop your language skills using Transparent Language
- Watch stories in a variety of world languages through LOTE
- Catch up on the latest news from around the world with Press Reader
- Browse through hundreds of magazines on Libby
These e-Services are free to use and easy to access; simply visit https://www.louthcoco.ie/en/services/library/online-services/ and click on your chosen service to get started.
Please note, you will need your library card number and PIN to use the e-Services. If your account has lapsed or you’ve lost your PIN, contact your local branch library.
If you’re not already a library member, it’s free to join. Simply visit your nearest branch library with a photo ID and proof of address, and our team will be happy to help you get set up!
