Ace AC athletes Sholah Lawrence and Eimear Cooney both won National Cross Country medals on Sunday in Navan by finishing in the top six in the U17 All Ireland Championships. The top 12 finishers secured medals.
Sholah Lawrence, who was running out of age, finished in a fantastic fourth place with Eimear Cooney winning her second National medal in two weeks, finishing in sixth.
Both Sholah and Eimear had superb starts on the Navan Race course. The race started and finished on a steep hill. Both girls remained very strong throughout and deservedly came away with coveted National medals. They were also part of the silver medal winning Leinster team.
Isabella Garcia also qualified for the U17 National finals and ran well.
Danny Nugent was the third medal winner of the day for Ace. Leinster Champion Danny finished in an impressive 30th place and as a result was part of the Leinster provincial team that won bronze in the U19 5k race. He did so despite sustaining a spike related injury in a fall, in the first lap of the race.
Shea O’Donnell, Lorcan Ford Dunne, Fergus Nolan, Rhys Clarke, Tayo Lawernce and Chloe Cooney were the other Ace Athletes who qualified for the National finals and all competed well but finished outside of the medals.
