“The whole area looks like it has been abandoned!”
Sinn Féin Local Election hopeful Laura Clinton has branded the children’s playground at Moneymore ‘an absolute disgrace’.
“There is little enough in this area for young children” she said, adding: “it’s not good enough to see the playground neglected and run down to this degree.
“We need a complete refurbishment of existing equipment with additional pieces added to it including at least one disability piece. The swings are missing, there is no baby swing at all, the roundabout doesn’t work and the ground is covered in slippery moss. The football nets are torn and falling onto the ground and the whole area looks like it has been abandoned.”
Ms Clinton confirmed she had contacted Louth County Council to seek a refurbishment and an overhaul and said “I am determined not to let this go. The people and especially the children of Moneymore deserve better.”
