Drogheda/East Meath Councillor Stephen McKee(Fianna Fail) has called on the HSE to urgently address the need for a new Speech and Language therapist at the HSE clinic in Laytown.
“I understand that there is currently no Speech and Language Therapist in Laytown and this needs to be addressed urgently” he said.
“It is vital that we improve access to Speech and Language Therapy, especially for children as we know that early intervention is critical for them to support their development.
“I have written to the HSE demanding that action is taken and that local families can access a Speech and Language Therapist locally in East Meath.
“We know that nationally, waiting lists for therapy have unfortunately increased in recent years. Delayed early intervention may result in children ultimately never receiving the Speech and Language Therapy services they need at the time they need it” McKee said.
“This is an issue that needs urgent attention” he added.
