Ace AC had two members running at the weekend in the Leinster B Cross Country Championships. Leinster B Championships are open to anybody who didn’t medal in the regular Leinster championships so they are a great stepping stone for all young athletes.
U11 girls Ella Doyle and Sophie Black made the long journey to Stradbally, Co. Laois to compete. Again top 12 finishers secured an individual medal.
In a very competitive line-up of 98 athletes Ella Doyle finished 22nd, only 8 seconds outside of a top 12 finish. Sophie Black also impressed, finishing 45th. Ella’s high finish won her a team medal with the Louth team.
Also over the weekend, Farrah Smith ran well, finishing 4th in the 60m at a Cushinstown AC event on Sunday. She also competed well in the long jump.
Meanwhile Lucy Reynolds won the trainer of the week award for the Ace AC youngest members.
Lucy, who hasn’t missed a single training session in months , was again showing her improvements last week and was subsequently awarded the medal, presented this week by her teammate, multiple national medal winner, u16 Chloe Cooney.
