A County Louth horse racing fan is celebrating a remarkable pre Christmas windfall after turning a small stake into a massive €84,599 win at Dundalk.
The lucky punter, who has chosen to remain anonymous, placed their bets at a BOYLE Sports shop in the Wee County on Wednesday, backing five horses running on the Dundalk card. The bettor staked just €6.20 in total, placing a 10 cent each way Super Yankee alongside a 50 cent each way accumulator.
The bet faced an early and unlikely boost when outsider Kartayaz, priced at 80/1, caused a major upset by winning the 4.15 race. That shock result put the modest wager firmly on course for a huge payout.
As the evening progressed, confidence grew as the remaining selections all delivered. Spy at 7/2, Kc Bear at 7/1, Golden Trigger at 11/4 and Lahore Da King at 18/1 all crossed the line first, completing an incredible run of five winners from five selections.
