Louth player waits two months to claim €1m Lotto winnings

“I really wanted to let the win sink in and come to terms with it.” Those were the words of a lucky lotto winner from county Louth yesterday after they claimed their Lotto Plus 1 top prize worth an incredible €1 Million which they’d won back in September.

The winner, who wishes to remain private, spoke of how they felt when they found out they’d won the life-changing prize: ”I was in complete shock, you always hope you’re going to win big but you never think it’s actually going to be you!”, they said.

“I waited two months to claim the prize because I really wanted to let the win sink in and come to terms with it. I didn’t want to rush out spending it all! I want to keep life as normal as possible going forward.”

When asked what they might spend their winnings on, the winner replied: “I’m looking forward to going on more holidays and seeing a bit more of the world. I also might get some nicer presents for the family this Christmas!”

The Louth player purchased their winning Lotto Plus 1 ticket worth €1,000,000 in Sloane’s newsagents, on Avenue Road in Dundalk.

As there was no winner in Wednesday’s (16th October) Lotto jackpot, Saturday’s jackpot is set to roll to an estimated €5.5 Million.
