Liscorrie residents’ complaints of raw sewerage and foul smells being ignored

The residents of the Liscorrie housing estate have been highly concerned by an ongoing sewerage issue over the last four years which they say has got progressively worse since a pumping station was installed.

A spokesperson for Liscorrie Residents Association said they had raised this issue with the builders on numerous occasions and have been promised a report which they have yet to receive.

“The pumping station is not working properly with raw sewerage coming out of the manhole covers regularly” the spokesperson said.

Drogheda Rural Councillor Declan Power met with the Liscorrie residents recently and they outlined their ongoing concerns with this problem.

He was told that the raw sewerage comes to the top of the manholes, creating foul smells throughout the estate, including in people’s homes, and lingers when the weather is warmer.

“The problem escalates from the Belfry Lawn area but also affects Kilberry Street and Listoke Avenue” he said.

“I have written to the housing developers and Louth County Council asking them to investigate this issue immediately.

“New road surfacing is due for completion in the estate this week, and I would encourage that this is paused until there is a resolution to this sewerage issue and no more stress caused to the residents in the area that have to endure these lingering odours” said Councillor Power.
