Irish screen stars will return home to Dublin this weekend for the Irish Academy Awards, hosted by Kevin McGahern on Friday 20th February.
The IFTA Awards ceremony is set to be a major homecoming for Irish actors and filmmakers, celebrating the success of Irish creative talent and recognising achievements both in front of and behind the camera. Actor Ciarán Hinds will be honoured with the IFTA Lifetime Achievement Award, surrounded by family, friends and industry colleagues.
The awards will take place on Friday 20th February at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre and will be broadcast on RTÉ One on Saturday 21st February at 10.50pm.
Irish screen stars confirmed to attend include Oscar nominated Jessie Buckley, nominated for her performance in Hamnet, along with Cillian Murphy, Steve Coogan, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Aidan Quinn, Alison Oliver, Anthony Boyle, Danielle Galligan, Jack Gleeson, Fionn O’Shea, Peter Claffey, Niamh Algar, Lola Petticrew, Louisa Harland, Jamie Lee O’Donnell, Siobhán Cullen, Genevieve O’Reilly, Lisa McGee and Roisin Gallagher.
Also nominated on the night are Fionnula Flanagan, Ruth Bradley, Nora Jane Noone, Cathy Belton, Aaron Monaghan and Dónall Ó Héalaí, Carrie Crowley, Martin McCann, Katherine Devlin, Alex Murphy, Chris Walley, Colin Farrell, Paul Mescal, Kerry Condon, Daniel Power, Diarmuid Noyes, Emma Willis, Jamie Forde, Caitriona Balfe and Carolyn Bracken, among others.
Guests attending the ceremony will include acclaimed filmmakers Neil Jordan and Jim Sheridan, along with Sarah Bolger, Clare Dunne, Aisha Tyler, Amy Huberman, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Stephen Rea, Ardal O’Hanlon, David Wilmot, Caroline Morahan, Peter Coonan, Simone Kirby, India Mullen, Gemma Leah Devereaux, Tom Cullen, Seamus O’Hara, Clinton Liberty and Steve Wall.
The Irish Academy Awards are funded by Screen Ireland and Coimisiún na Meán. Redbreast is this year’s official spirit partner, while Sculpted by Aimee is the official makeup partner.
