Heritage walking tour from the port to Donor’s Green

Community historian Brendan Matthews will be presenting another in his popular series of heritage walking tours of Drogheda on Wednesday evening next July28th beginning at the Mall on the North Quay at 7.30 pm.

Titled “From the Port to Donor’s Green”, Brendan will outline the history of Drogheda Port and the docks area as the `Walk n Talk` strolls through Merchants Quay, Steam-Packet Quay, Ballast Quay and Fiddle Case Pier, where some significant tales of old Drogheda will be relayed.

The tour will then proceed along the North Strand Road to the beautiful Donor’s Green, along the Banks of the Boyne, where the history of the ‘People’s Park’ will be told.

There will also be tales of the amazing Victorian Engineering that went into the building of the great Boyne Railway Viaduct which towers over Donor`s Green.

There is no-Charge for this event but donations for the continued Research and Study of Community History will be greatly appreciated.
