Great excitement at Boyne Youth Diversion Project Awards Night

The Boyne Youth Diversion Programme’s (YDP) Awards night is one of the most inspiring nights of the year when young people living in areas that don’t necessarily give them the best start in life are honoured for their efforts in the various courses and activities organised by the Programme.

Like Youth Diversion Projects across the Country, the Boyne YDP is community based and seeks to divert young people from becoming involved in anti-social or criminal behaviour by facilitating personal development and promoting civic responsibility.

The energy and enthusiasm of the teenagers was immediately obvious on entering the room in the St. Nicholas GFC clubhouse where the awards ceremony was being held.

The excitement was immense as the packed room waited for the short welcome speeches which, thankfully, were kept short and sweet.

Boyne YDP is run by Youth Work Ireland and has been operating for the past 23 years in Drogheda. In that time it has gone from strength to strength with several extra staff members coming on board since last year and a new minibus, which was acquired in April, has greatly widened their horizons.”

An Garda Siochana are great supporters of the YDP, they can see the benfits for all concerne and are regular supporters of the scheme.
