Garda renew appeal for witnesses to fatal collision on N2

An Garda Síochána have renewed their appeal for witnesses in relation to a fatal road traffic collision that occurred shortly before 8.30pm on the N2 at Edmonstown, north of Ardee on the evening of September 11, 2021.

The collision occurred between a motorcycle and a car in the vicinity of Dooley’s Pub and Restaurant in Edmonstown, Co Louth.

The motorcyclist, a man in his early 20s, received critical injuries and passed away on September 13, 2021.

Saturday September 11, 2021 was the same day as the All Ireland football final between Mayo and Tyrone and it is likely that many Tyrone spectators would have been using the N2 returning from the game.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was travelling on the N2 on Saturday September 11, 2021 between 8pm and 8.30pm and who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

In particular Gardaí are appealing to any road users who may have camera footage, including dash cam footage, covering the N2 near Dooley’s Pub and Restaurant between 8pm and 8.30pm to make this available to Gardaí.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ardee Garda Station on (041) 6853222, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
