Frantz Pierrot signs for Drogheda United, the third new player in a week

It’s been a week of signings at Drogheda United Football Club. Defender Jack Keaney signed on the dotted line on Monday, then Andrew Quinn came back to Drogheda from Shelbourne and yesterday forward Frantz Pierrot became their latest signing.

Pierrot joins Kevin Doherty’s side subject to work permit approval for the 2024 season.

Pierrot, who previously showcased his talent at Athlone Town, bolsters Drogheda United’s forward line with his proven proficiency and diverse football journey.

His talent was exemplified last season with an impressive goal-scoring record, netting 22 goals in 36 games, securing his position as a key offensive asset.

Pierrot honed his craft at the University of Connecticut (UCONN) in the United States, contributing significantly to the college’s football programme.

His exceptional performance at UCONN garnered attention, leading to his selection in the MLS Draft by the Houston Dynamo, a testament to his talent and potential.

Drogheda United Manager Kevin Doherty expressed his excitement about Pierrot’s signing, stating, “I’m delighted to have Frantz at the club. He had an excellent season with Athlone last year and with all his attributes, I think he will kick on.

“He is going to be a vital part of our team next year. I am also excited by his reaction to joining Drogheda and getting going. He is going to fit in well with the group. I can’t wait to start working with him.”

Frantz Pierrot’s arrival at Drogheda United exemplifies the club’s commitment to fostering new talent in Ireland and adding a touch of international exposure to the squad.

His notable goal-scoring record and achievements during his time at Athlone Town highlight his capabilities, and Drogheda United eagerly anticipates utilising his experiences for a successful season ahead.
