Meanwhile, another man from the same boat has been rescued by the crew of another razor boat and brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
The Clogherhead RNLI crew launched at approximately 8.45 this morning in response to a mayday call.
The coastguard helicopter R116, Cogherhead and Greenore Coast Guard units are also taking part in the search for the missing man.
The Marine Rescue Coordination Centre are coordinating the search and rescue mission.
Update received from Clogherhead RNLI at 6.30 this evening:
The search has been called off for the night and will resume in the morning. We are thinking of the family of the missing fisherman at this difficult time.
