Death is an issue that nobody likes to talk about, especially if it is our own or that of a loved one. To this end, a unique and heartfelt workshop is taking place in Duleek later this month to help people explore their end-of-life wishes in a calm and supportive space.
Final Wishes, Lasting Love, facilitated by death doula (end of life companion) and civil celebrant Sarah Gardiner, will take place on Saturday 24 May from 12 noon to 2.30pm at the Four Swans Therapy Centre in Duleek.
“One of the greatest gifts we can give our loved ones is clarity,” says Sarah. “So many families find themselves in deep distress at the time of a funeral, not knowing what their loved one would have wanted. This workshop is designed to ease that burden gently, practically and with kindness.”
Participants will be guided through thoughtful reflection and practical steps to document their wishes around funerals, care preferences and personal values. The workshop is open to all, from those facing a life-limiting illness to people simply wishing to get organised.
Sarah is a trained Think Ahead Champion with The Irish Hospice Foundation and will use the Think Ahead Planning Pack in the workshop. It helps participants record their care and funeral wishes clearly. The workshop includes a guided session, a Think Ahead Planning Pack to take home, light refreshments and a supportive space to begin planning.
“It is not a heavy space. It is about love, legacy and peace of mind,” Sarah explains.
Spaces are limited and advance booking is essential.
