Fifty bed Community Nursing Unit in Ardee to open later this year

Fine Gael TD, Fergus O’Dowd, has received confirmation from the HSE that the vital 50 bed St Joseph’s Hospital Community Nursing Unit in Ardee is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2021.

 O’Dowd said “This is really positive news and I’m delighted the necessary approvals are now in place to allow the project advance to construction phase.

 “This is a project that local Cathaoirleach, Cllr Dolores Minogue, and I have been campaigning on for a number of years to secure a state of the art CNU that matches the exceptional level of care that is currently provided by the staff of the hospital.

 O’Dowd said “St Joseph’s hospital has been in dire need of development for some time now, the new CNU will create a really positive and friendly environment and will include a reflection room, hairdresser room, clinical treatment room and also family overnight accommodation.

 “I will continue to campaign and press the relevant officials to make sure the first sod is turned on this vital project as soon as possible.”
