Excursion Tour to FourknocksTomb, Naul and Stamullen

Now that his summer season of historical walks and talk community historian Brendan Matthews is spreading his wings further afield and will host a bus tour from Drogheda to the magnificent passage tomb at Fourknocks in the parish of Stamullen on Sunday September 11th.

Departing from outside St. Peter`s Church in West Street at 2pm sharp, The Bus Tour will take participants on a wonderful scenic drive through Beamore, Cooperhill, passing Dardistown Castle and climbing over the heights of beautiful Mullaghteeling and the Hill of Tír-Rí with stunning surrounding views before stopping at the five-thousand-year-old Burial Tomb at Fourknocks.

After visiting the Fourknocks Tomb the tour will travel the short distance across Snowtown Hill with breath-taking views over the Irish Sea, south Louth, east Meath and Fingal and to the beautiful Naul village, to the exquisite Seamus Ennis Art & Cultural Centre where afternoon Tea ans Cake will be served, along with a visit to the humble grave-plot of Seamus Ennis; Ireland`s greatest Uileann Piper of the 20th century.

 After departing from the Naul, the tour will arrive at the fascinating old Monastic settlement and medieval chapel ruins and monuments at nearby Stamullen village.
