More and more people are seeing the sense in buying Love Drogheda Gift Cards. That’s because they understand the value to the community in shopping local.

It was a brave step by the Love Drogheda Business Improvement District (BID) group when they introduced the card late last year. Starting from nothing is always difficult no matter how good the idea is.
The Love Drogheda Gift Card scheme started with just 70 local businesses signed up but that number has now climbed to more 170 participants and to date they have sold over €118,000 worth.
Of that amount over €72,000 has been redeemed which is good but it also means that there is approximately €46,000 out there which has yet to be spent.
This is one drawback of gift cards, friends and loved ones are delighted to receive them but often they are put away “somewhere safe” and they end up being forgotten about.
This week Love Drogheda issued a gentle reminder to people who may have Love Drogheda Gift Cards stashed away in the toast rack or in their wallets or purses to dig them out and use them.
Love Drogheda Gift Cards don’t have an expiry date but keeping it in the kitchen drawer or bedside locker is doing nobody any good.
“We are encouraging those of you who have Love Drogheda Gift Card to help support local businesses by spending your Gift Cards” said Love Drogheda CEO Trevor Connolly.
Gift cards are a lovely way to show someone that you are thinking of them and they are not just for special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries either. They’re an ideal way to give someone a dig out with the expense of communions or back to school or for someone moving into a new home.
Or you might simply want to tell someone you love them and let them treat themselves – you never know they may share the treat with you over a nice meal and a glass of bubbly!
