€1 million cannabis seizure in Louth as two men arrested

Around €1 million worth of suspected cannabis has been seized in a joint operation involving Gardaí and Revenue officers in County Louth.

The seizure of approximately 50kg of drugs took place in Castlebellingham on Wednesday, April 1, as part of an intelligence led investigation carried out by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Revenue’s Customs Service.

Two men, both aged in their 40s, were arrested at the scene and are currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act at a Garda station in the North Western Region.

The drugs have been sent for analysis by Forensic Science Ireland, and investigations are ongoing.
