The Boynesiders go into this game following a first defeat of the season at home to Shelbourne in Sullivan & Lambe Park last week.
Drogheda were in front at the break after Brandon Kavanagh’s early strike, following a counter attack from Andrew Quinn.
Shelbourne responded quickly after the break, with Sam Bone finishing from close range from a free kick just two minutes into the second half.
The visitors took the lead in the 64th minute, from the penalty spot through Harry Wood, after a foul by Drogheda goalkeeper Luke Dennison. The home side pushed for an equaliser, with Mark Doyle closest to scoring, but Shelbourne took all three points back to the capital.
Both games between Drogheda and Sligo last season at The Showgrounds ended all square (2-2, 1-1) while Kevin Doherty’s side won both games in Sullivan & Lambe Park (3-0, 1-0).
Scott Brady is ruled out through injury while Warren Davis continues his recovery. Owen Lambe (ACL) remains on the long-term injury list. Manager Kevin Doherty is suspended after receiving a red card against Shelbourne last week.
