Like almost every other event this year Drogheda Pride has had to be cancelled for the second successive year.
Pride may be cancelled but there are many other ways that members of Drogheda’s gay community can celebrate.
Drogheda LGBTQ Support Group, a non-profit community organisation that aims to create awareness and understanding of the LGBT+ community locally, has asked people who participated so energetically in previous Drogheda Prides to do so again this year but to do it with the Covid restrictions in mind.
They’ve organised a Rainbow Run which people can complete in their own time in their own space and within the 5km limit
“This year unfortunately Drogheda Pride 2021 is not a parade, but why not participate in our Community themed event” said organiser Peter Nugent.
“Dress up in colourful clothing, face painted, fly your Pride flags and run, walk or Bike it around your 5km Great day for our Community.
“Take a selfie or photograph send it to info.droghedalgbtq@gmail.com & photos will be displayed on Drogheda Pride 2021 Virtual Event #droghedapride2021.”

“Due to Covid-19 and the current restrictions, it has been extremely difficult to organise any fundraising events as we usually would, so we have set up this GoFundMe to ask for support from the community” Peter said.
