Drogheda Dolls give the guys in the Shed a dig out

In a perfect example of one community organisation helping another, the Drogheda Dolls called in to the Drogheda and Districts Men’s Shed during the week to present them with a cheque for €1,000 from their Christmas fund.

A delighted Kevin Brogan, the Chairman of the Drogheda and Districts Men’s Shed, said this was a very welcome boost for the members because they have much to do around the garden and in the various workshops.

“Many of our members are only coming back now as we were closed for much of January until the restrictions were lifted and we are also looking for new members to join.

“Since we came back in late January, there has been a big push to get our garden ready for sowing. We just completed the building of another polytunnel and now is the time to begin sowing seeds to plant out later in March and April.

“Also, a lot preparation of the flower beds and vegetable garden is ongoing. The weeds did not take a break for the Pandemic!

“In the workshop there are still orders to be filled for our benches and that is all under way, and then there is the planter boxes which seem to be very popular.

“As I said already, we welcome new members.

“If you are interested in joining the Drogheda and Districts Men’s Shed, please call out and we will show you around. We are there out on the Donore Road past the M1 roundabouts between 9.00 and 1.00pm Monday to Friday. Or call us 041 9800 078.

“At the moment we have no events planned yet. We are still getting back to normal.”
