Top level meeting with Department of Foreign Affairs.
Drogheda Chamber is to investigate new cross border funding opportunities for its members following a meeting in Armagh with the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Attended by Chamber President Hubert Murphy and Skillnet Manager Joe Lynch, the gathering was told that the Shared Ireland Fund would be in the region of €1bn over the next decade.
“Every aspect of business, community and leisure can benefit from these funding streams and the key is cross border and cross community collaboration,” chamber president Hubert Murphy stated.
“We have spoken to the department about the needs of Drogheda, especially the northern environs, and the groundwork and future needs projections by Louth CC has assisted greatly in that. The new train station at Aston Village will be a key element”
Hubert Murphy and Joe Lynch spoke with Mark Hanniffy, Joint Secretary, North South Ministerial Council, and expressed their desire to see Drogheda as central to cross border relations, especially with the Battle of the Boyne site being just a short distance from the town.
