Drogheda dancers represent Ireland at international folklore festival in Denmark

Thirteen young dancers from the Robinson School of Irish Dancing returned from Denmark recently after they represented Ireland at the 10th Triangle Folklore Festival, which is the largest international folklore festival in Denmark.

The dancers were joined by musicians and singers from Louth, Meath and Scotland to form “Brú na Bóinne, Ireland”.  They shared our Irish culture with groups from all over the world, including teams from Portugal, Serbia, Poland, Ghana, the USA, Taiwan and Mexico.

During their stay in Denmark the group performed in Tivoli Friheden in Aarhus, with street performances in Vejle and Kolding and Gala Shows in the Varde Teater og Musikhaus and in Petersmindehallen Vejle.

The group gave two workshops during their stay in Denmark and also enjoyed taking part in the various workshops given by the other countries.

As well as performing, the dancers also had time to explore some of the local area including a visit to the beach in Blavandshuk Fyr, the Oekolariet in Vejle and Legoland in Billund.

Lolo Robinson said “It is wonderful to be back at a folklore festival again after the last few years.  Over the last twenty years we have been fortunate to represent Ireland at over 30 international festivals throughout Europe and this is our second visit to the Triangle Folklore Festival.  It was a great experience for all our group and we are looking forward to what 2024 will bring”.
