Councillors from the Drogheda and Laytown-Bettystown Municipal Districts held another ‘in camera’ meeting yesterday to discuss topics of mutual interest.
At the meeting, which was held in Barlow House, Councillors received a presentation on the upcoming Joint Area Plan for Drogheda.
Councillor James Byrne welcomed the fact that the process is expected to commence in early December with a non-statutory public consultation.
“This will be done on an informal basis over an eight-week period to the end of January” he said.
“Two public meetings are to be arranged either side of Christmas on themes such as housing, heritage, transport, and the environment and I would urge people to have their say.
“A draft plan will then be drawn up by both Councils following this with a further opportunity for the public to engage.
“I was encouraged to hear that a transport plan for Drogheda will be prepared and progressed in tandem with the Area Plan.”
Councillor Byrne also told Drogheda Life that the Active Travel teams from both Councils will be involved in the public consultation which he welcomed as being “very positive”.
“It is hoped the Joint Area Plan will be finalised and in place before the end of 2023” Councillor Byrne said.
